CHILD CARE: ABC OF BREASTFEEDING.

Posted 9/14/2013

From the first moment the infant is applied to the breast, it must be nursed upon a certain plan. This is necessary to the well-doing of the child, and will contribute essentially to preserve the health of the parent, who will thus be rendered a good nurse, and her duty at the same time will become a pleasure.

This implies, however, a careful attention on the part of the mother to her own health; for that of her child is essentially dependent upon it. Healthy, nourishing, and digestible milk can be procured only from a healthy parent; and it is against common sense to expect that, if a mother impairs her health and digestion by improper diet, neglect of exercise, and impure air, she can, nevertheless, provide as wholesome and uncontaminated a fluid for her child, as if she were diligently attentive to these important points. Every instance of indisposition in the nurse is liable to affect the infant.

And this leads me to observe, that it is a common mistake to suppose that, because a woman is nursing, she ought therefore to live very fully, and to add an allowance of wine, porter, or other fermented liquor, to her usual diet. The only result of this plan is, to cause an unnatural degree of fulness in the system, which places the nurse on the brink of disease, and which of itself frequently puts a stop to the secretion of the milk, instead of increasing it. The right plan of proceeding is plain enough; only let attention be paid to the ordinary laws of health, and the mother, if she have a sound constitution, will make a better nurse than by any foolish deviation founded on ignorance and caprice.

SELF IMPROVEMENT: 10 inspirational quotes than can improve yourself

Posted 9/13/2013

It might take a little coffee or probably a few rounds of beer or any other booze you could get your hands on when it comes to relaxing after a hard day's work. Well, yeah I'm guilty about that one as well, unless I'm caught dead wearing a lampshade over my head after a few rounds of vodka… half-naked! Okay, bad example and I apologize to everyone reading this after getting nightmares about me in that state of drunken stupor.

Just don't ask how it happened, please.

But what's really interesting is that how do people go through the usual part of life when faced with vein-popping stress? I mean, the new age thing like Zen or yoga is one of the good things and it actually works. Is there room for the intellectual side of people who can actually smell the roses-in-a-can while on the move? It kind of had me thinking that there really must be something in this 'mind-over-matter' thing.

Humor is indeed the best medicine there is whenever you are. I mean anyone can pay good money to listen to a comedian just to make you wet your pants after laughing so hard. Despite of what's been happening, and to those who has gone though the ordeal, it's better to just laugh while facing the troubles with a clear mind than anger with a clouded vision. One of my favorite celebrities of all time may have to be Woody Allen. Now this is one guy who gives you the in-your-face bluntness that he pulls out with gusto, even without even trying. You can talk just about anything with a man, and he's bound to mock the subject and you'll end up laughing rather than being upset about it.

Associating Peg Words To Improve Your Memory

Posted 4/26/2013

The peg word system is used to help a person to remember a list in a specific sequence. However, before you can do this, you need to memorize a roster list of peg words. Generally, there are two major ways to do this. Take a closer look at these methods first, then choose which one you want to use.

Alternatively you can use a little bit of imagination and use both methods. The first method is so easy that anyone can use it. Just use numbers 0 to 10 and relate rhyming words with each of these digits.

0. Weirdo
1. Fun
2. Doe
3. Free
4. Floor
5. Hive
6. Fix
7. Heaven
8. Mate
9. Line
10. Ben

Fatty fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel have fats that can produce fish oil. Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids which are recommended by health-care professionals to be included in a individual’s diet. Omega-3 acids are mainly docosahexaenoic acid or DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid or EPA.

Omega- fatty acids are essential in cell building. It is important to get them from our diet since the body cannot produce this kind of acid. HAY FEVER, ALLERGY AND ASTHMA

Posted 3/7/2013

That time of yearHay fever is a chronic condition characterized by sneezing, nasal congestion, runny and itching nose, palate, ears and eyes.  If you recognize any of these symptoms chances are, you or some member of your family has experienced hay fever at one time or another.

Doctors call it allergic rhinitis.  Most people know it as hay fever and if you've got it - - as 22 million Americans do - - you're likely to be plagued during the spring and fall seasons by such annoying symptoms as sneezing, congestion, runny nose, itchy throat and red, watery eyes.  Allergy has different names.  Allergy reactions occurring in the nose and sinus are called "sinus" or "hay fever" or "allergic rhinitis."  And when allergy reactions occur in the chest we call it "asthma."  Allergy reactions in the skin are named "hives" or "angioedema."  So you see, allergy has different names depending upon where in your body it occurs.

The Flu and what to do.

Posted 1/27/2013

Kid with fluGuess we all had it at some point in our life. Some more sever then others and some more often than others, but most people will like to do without it. What can we do to avoid getting the flu? First defense is getting you flu shot, keep a distance to people with the flu and wash your hands often. Be aware of what you touch and where, if in doubt clean it out.

Now I got the flu. Stay at home is the key, get all the rest in the world, stay warm, take steamy shower, drink your favorite hot drink and blow your nose often rather than sniffling, don’t worry you are sick so it’s OK, and do it right, press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other.
